Ivan Vazov Hut: A remote, higher-altitude hut (accessible via hiking from the Seven Rila Lakes or Malyovitsa) that offers significantly darker skies than lower elevations.
Musala Peak Area: Near the highest summit in the Balkans, this area provides incredible, unobstructed panoramic views.
Malyovitsa Hut & Region: Located in the northeastern part of Rila, this area is known for its stunning, rugged, and quiet landscape, perfect for stargazing
RHODOPE MOUNTAINS / LOCATION: SOUTHERN BULGARIA, Highest Peak: Golyam Perelik (2,191) m
HIGHLIGHTS:
NAO Rozhen: The largest astronomical observatory on the Balkans- at 1,750 meters near Smolyan, often hosts evening observations with telescopes.
Rozhen Meadows: Located just below the observatory - open meadows are easily accessible for setting up cameras and blankets.
Belintash: A mystical rocky plateau (near Lucky) that offers a high-altitude, open panorama perfect for nightfall views.
Eagle’s Eye Platform (Orlovo oko): Located near Yagodina at 1,563 meters - provides a 360-degree, unobstructed view of the night sky.
Karadzhov Stone: A remote, high plateau area (1448 m) with very well-preserved natural darkness
